The Futures Program is key to the development processes by identifying the most talented athletes in the nation and cultivating the Olympic athletes of tomorrow. Since it’s establishment in 1990, the Futures Program has been the start of many athlete’s Olympic journey.
About the Futures Program
The Futures program is a great opportunity for athletes who want to sharpen their field hockey skills in the off-season, allowing them to work towards their dream to play at a higher level. Athletes will train in Futures Training Academies for seven, 3-hour sessions and will have the opportunity to be selected from their Region Futures Tournament (RFT). Upon selection at their RFT, they will prepare to compete at the National Futures Championship. For more in-depth information on the Futures program select here.
Entering the Futures Program
Athletes are accepted into the Futures program by invitation only, after completing an individual trial or through a Partner Camp recommendation. High school coaches, middle school coaches, club coaches or approved testing center coaches may test athletes for Futures. The results are submitted by your testing coach to our National Office and then passed on to the Regional Director for evaluation. Athletes will receive Futures invitations based on their scores as they compare to the standards of the region. Select here to see region break down by state.
