USA Field Hockey’s Level 2 Instructional Clinic is a 14-hour offering that will be held on Saturday, January 21, 9:30-5:30 pm, and Sunday, January 22, 8:00-2:00 pm.  This course will expand on several of the topics covered in the Level 1 clinic and will challenge participants to further define and evaluate their individual coaching philosophies, styles, techniques and encourage self-assessment.  Additionally, coaches will work in groups to share best practices and receive peer feedback in a comfortable and encouraging environment.

The Level 2 Instructional Coaching Clinic will cover the following topics: 

Classroom Presentations and Discussions

Developing your Coaching Philosophy

Touch on Season Planning

Guided Discovery and Learning Principles

Effective Session Planning

11v11 Concepts / Playing Formations

Set-play Structures

On-Field Learning and Application

Participate in Classroom and Group Presentations covering important coaching topics

Apply “Teaching Games for Understanding” Principles that include Exercise Progressions

Focus on Skill Acquisition and Grip Management – Basic to Advanced Skills – Error Detection and Correction

Design Fun and Effective Training Sessions – Small Games

Basic to Advanced Goalkeeping

Participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and space is limited.

USA Field Hockey Level 2 Instructional Clinic attendees will receive a Level 2 Certificate of Participation and, with USA Field Hockey membership, will be eligible to coach in USA Field Hockey programs including Head Coach of Futures. Participants will also be able to advance in Coaching Education into the Level 3 Program – High Performance or Development Pathway that will include an application process. Level 3 Certification Courses will be offered in 2017.
