Coaching Field Hockey - Technical Skills Workshop
USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce the “Technical Skills Workshop”, a new Coach Education offering. This three-hour workshop will be held at George Mason University on Saturday, April 18th from 1:00-4:00 pm. As the game of field hockey evolves, so do the skills required to play. This workshop is the perfect opportunity to focus on the correct teaching of the key technical skills necessary to succeed in preparation for the upcoming season. It’s also a great way to network and collaborate with fellow coaches. Coaches of all levels are welcome and will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The Coach Educators for this workshop will be TBD. The focus of this workshop will be on teaching skills in a developmentally-appropriate way. Technical instruction will include basic grips, detecting and correcting errors, ball control, passing and receiving, forehand and backhand skills, aerials, and more. New and experienced head and assistant coaches of youth, club, high school and collegiate athletes will be well-prepared to take their athletes and teams to the next level.
Price will be $65 for members and $85 for non-members
Participants in the “Technical Skills Workshop” will receive a certificate of participation that stays current as long as your Coach Membership remains active. This is the first of USA Field Hockey’s new “Workshop Series,” which will become part of the Coach Education Pathway. USA Field Hockey is committed to providing coaches with ongoing quality Coach Education that is accessible, affordable and that includes best practices to deliver a player-centered and positive development experience.
